Principal’s Notes

October 10th, 2018

Hello Olympic families,

We are off to a great start to the 2018-19 school year!!  Teachers have been sharing expectations with students to create a positive climate in classrooms, playground teachers are encouraging fun and safe choices during recess and support staff and I are evaluating how we can help teachers, students and families to make Olympic great.

We could use your help with safe drop-off and pick-up at the curb each day.  Please remember to stay in your car when at the curb.  If you choose to leave your car, we ask that you park in a parking space.  Crossing at the crosswalks helps keep everyone safe and the flow of traffic moving at dismissal time.  Please avoid crossing the drive through lane coming from the porch or Kindergarten pick-up.  We appreciate your help with these safety procedures.

Families – If you ever hear a concerning report from your child, please contact the teacher by phone or e-mail.  We have found this is the quickest and best way to address the issue.  Our teachers are extremely helpful when questions or concerns arise.

Has your child told you about our morning announcements?  Every morning Mrs. Sharer or I welcome everyone back to school over the intercom.  We share attendance information, interesting facts, inspirational quotes, an Owl trait of the day and celebrate student and staff birthdays.  It’s a fun way to start our day together and helps us feel like a community.

Our first big family event of the year is called Math University and it takes place on Thursday, November 8th from 5:00 – 6:30.  Come play math games and learn about our new Math curriculum – Ready Math.  I hope to see you there.

Sincerely,

Mike Mendenhall
